A Horseback Riding Trip in Winter?
Winter is a great time to go on shorter horseback riding excursions, combining riding with a ski vacation or a cross-country skiing trip, for example. In winter, we ride at a leisurely pace along the horse trails. Due to the severe cold, we generally only offer one-hour and two-hour riding excursions.
Snow-covered trees look stunning in December and January. In February, we get to admire deep drifts of snow, and in March, as the sun shines in the sky, we dream of spring snow.
In winter, stables usually have a minimum temperature limit, such as -28 degrees Celsius. The primary purpose of this limit is to protect people from frostbite.

A Horseback Riding Trip in the Spring?
Spring starts quite late in Lapland, but riding through the spring snowdrifts is absolutely amazing. Can you imagine snowdrifts a meter high on either side of the horse? The sun is shining brightly in the sky and warms your face nicely.
In the spring, we use the trails that were kept open over the winter, but as soon as the snow begins to melt, we also open the summer trails. Typically, floods occur in the first weeks of May, and when flooding hits, the terrain usually becomes inaccessible. In such cases, to protect the terrain, we do not ride there, and the horses get the vacation they deserve.

When would you prefer to go on a horseback riding trip or vacation? At Ranch Kuulaa, we organize horseback riding trips of various lengths throughout the year, with groups organized by skill level, and you can also stay overnight and spend an entire weekend at the stables.
