Ranch Kuulas – A Dream Destination for Horseback Riding in the Heart of Lapland

In the tranquility of Lapland, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, years of hard work have culminated in something truly special. What began as a dream of having our own horseback riding center is now a reality.

Ranch Kuulas has opened its doors in Rovaniemi, and our first guests have already had the chance to experience the atmosphere of our new ranch. The accommodations, restaurant, and course and wellness facilities are now open, and a new chapter in the story of the Laenlampi farm has begun.

The project began in 2024 when we received EU rural development funding through the Lapland ELY Centre as part of the Rural Development Fund’s investment support for businesses. With this support, we were able to carry out the expansion we had been planning for a long time and build a year-round equestrian tourism destination that combines Finnish horses, Lapland culture, nature, and hospitality.

An old log house was given a new lease on life

At the heart of Ranch Kuulaksen is a log house over 110 years old, which we moved piece by piece to its new location and rebuilt log by log. Restoring the building was a massive project, but also an important part of the ranch’s story.

This historic building now serves as a meeting place for tourists, where the atmosphere of days gone by blends with modern amenities.

The building features, among other things:

• cozy accommodations for up to 10 guests
• Restaurant Loimu, which serves dishes inspired by the flavors of Lapland
• a training and wellness space for various training sessions, workshops, and group events
• A traditional sauna experience surrounded by nature will open in the fall of 2026

The construction made maximum use of recycled materials, traditional building methods, and renewable energy. The goal was to create a space that respects the environment and the history of the area.

From a small barn to an international tourist destination

The story of Laenlammen Farm began in 2020 with a young Finnish horse named Kuulas, a few client horses, and a big dream.

Over the years, the business has grown from a small home stable into a year-round tourism company that welcomes guests from all over the world. At the same time, customer preferences have also changed. More and more people want to stay longer, learn about Finnish horse culture, take part in courses, and experience Lapland’s nature at a leisurely pace.

Ranch Kuulas was built to meet this need.

Today, our guests can enjoy horseback riding excursions, horseback archery courses, wellness weekends, sauna evenings, traditional dinners, and multi-day riding vacations—all under one roof.

In collaboration with local residents

Ranch Kuulas isn’t just a new tourism business. It’s also an investment in the local countryside and village community.

We employ local people and collaborate with local entrepreneurs, artisans, activity providers, and local food producers. We want as much of the benefits of tourism as possible to remain within the local community.

At the same time, we strive to preserve and highlight Finnish traditions, particularly the history and significance of the Finnish horse as part of Finland’s cultural heritage.

The journey continues

Although Ranch Kuulas is now open, we don’t consider the project to be complete. On the contrary—this is just the beginning of a new era.

We will continue to develop our services, create new experiences, and share the story of the Finnish horse with an international audience. We want to offer our visitors a genuine opportunity to pause, breathe, and experience Lapland’s nature in a way that will stay with them for a long time.
