The adventure begins at the ranch stables where you meet your guide and horses.
Each participant is paired with a suitable horse from our herd of Finnhorses. Known for their strength, endurance and calm temperament, Finnhorses are ideal companions for longer trail rides in Lapland’s varied terrain.
Before departure, the guide provides a short safety briefing and introduction to the horses.
The ride then leads through forest trails and along the slopes of nearby hills, gradually reaching higher viewpoints overlooking the surrounding wilderness. The route passes through quiet forest landscapes and open areas where riders can admire the golden light of the midnight sun.
During the ride you may also spot wildlife such as birds or reindeer moving through the forests.
After approximately three and a half hours of riding, the group returns to the ranch where the horses are unsaddled and released back to their paddocks.
This ride is designed for riders who are comfortable in the saddle and want to experience the Arctic summer night in a deeper and more adventurous way.

The Ranch & Our Way of Working

About us
We are a small working ranch outside Rovaniemi, where we live and work with Finnhorses throughout the year. Our riding takes place on forest trails and open terrain shaped by the northern seasons, using Finland’s native horse breed known for its strength, steady temperament, and long history.
We guide our rides in small groups and match each horse carefully to the rider’s experience. Alongside riding, we prepare meals at Restaurant Loimu in a wood-fired oven and are opening farmhouse-style accommodation in summer 2026 for guests who want to stay longer in a quiet rural setting.
Responsibility
At Ranch Kuulas, responsibility is part of everyday life. We care for our horses, nature and surroundings with respect, following sustainable practices and traditional ways of working. Our goal is to create experiences that feel meaningful while preserving the environment for the future.
Our Horses
Our horses are at the heart of Ranch Kuulas. From Finnish Finnhorses to Arctic horses, each one is carefully trained and well cared for. Known for their calm temperament and strength, they make every riding experience safe, steady and deeply connected to nature.
