Above the Arctic Circle, July unfolds in a world where the sun never sets. The sky glows in golden light that lingers through the night, wrapping the forests and fells in a magical atmosphere. Under this endless day, under the midnight sun, horseback archers gather from across the globe to test their skills. Hooves thunder, arrows fly, and the Midnight Sun shines on it all.
Welcome to Lapland, Finland – welcome to the Midnight Sun Battle!
What is Midnight Sun Battle?
Midnight Sun Battle is an 2-star international horseback archery competition, featuring all three disciplines:
- Raid
- Tower
- Hunt
Over the course of several days, riders from around the world will compete on varied tracks designed to test speed, control, accuracy, and mental focus. The winner with the best overall score across disciplines will be crowned the Midnight Sun Battle Champion.

- Location: Ranch Kuulas, Haukilammentie 189, Rovaniemi, Finland
Ranch Kuulas offers dramatic natural scenery, unique terrain, and the enchanting light of the Midnight Sun.
The competition will be IHAA accredited.

Max. number of riders using rental horses: 18 competitors, (with own horses 10)
Participation Fees:
- Horse rental: 50€ / day , one testing day + 3 competition days together 200€
- Competition fee: €150 (non-members) / €130 (members of Arctic Horseback Archery ry)
- Pre-Comptetition training camp 130€/day lead by Anni Jauhiainen
- Accommondation options
- Farmhouse 2pp 50€/person/night , 1pp 100€/night
- Glamping 40€/person/night
- Camping with own tent 5€/person/night
- Transfer from Rovaniemi airport / train station 40€/person

How to Get Here
You can reach Ranch Kuulas easily from anywhere in Finland:
🚆 By Train:
Take a train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi. Train time is app. 8 hours also overnight trains. You can check timetables and book tickets at vr.fi.
✈️ By Plane:
Daily flights operate from Helsinki to Rovaniemi. Flight time is approximately 1 hour. See options at finnair.fi also some direct flights from Milano and other European cities.
🚌 By Bus:
From both the train station and airport, there are bus connections to our area.
You can find up-to-date routes and schedules at matkahuolto.fi.
Our nearest bus stop is TIAINEN.
🚐 Shuttle Service:
We also offer pickup from Rovaniemi railway station or airport to the ranch for €40 per person (both side)

If you would like to stay with us longer, we also offer special workshops around the competitions. These are perfect for diving deeper into skills, sharing knowledge, and enjoying the international community in Lapland.
Workshops with Anni Jauhiainen
Internationally recognized horseback archer Anni Jauhiainen will be leading exclusive training sessions during the july. Her calm, clear teaching style is highly valued by both beginners and advanced archers.
This camps will be booked as soon as in possible!
- Basic Camp (July 9–12, 2026) – Balanced development of riding, archery, and tactical training.
- Pre-Competition Training Camp (July 14–15, 2026) – Intensive preparation for the Midnight Sun Battle.
- Hunt Camp (July 23–26, 2026) – Focus on accuracy, and the high-adrenaline hunt.
These workshops are an excellent way to extend your stay, improve your performance, and immerse yourself fully in the unique atmosphere of Lapland’s horseback archery community.
