In July, the Arctic sun never sets.
The forests glow in soft golden light throughout the night, creating a surreal landscape where time seems to stand still. In this unique environment, horseback archers from around the world gather at Ranch Kuulas in Lapland to compete in the Midnight Sun Battle.

The competition spans three days and includes three classic horseback archery disciplines:
Raid

Tower

Hunt

Each discipline challenges riders in different ways. Speed and rhythm are essential in Raid, precision and timing define Tower, and adaptability becomes critical in the Hunt track.

Participants compete for the highest combined score across all disciplines, with the overall winner crowned the Midnight Sun Battle Champion.

The event is officially IHAA accredited, ensuring international competition standards and professional judging.

Ranch Kuulas provides a spectacular natural arena for the competition. Tracks run through open fields, forest paths and rolling hills, surrounded by the peaceful landscape of northern Finland.
Between competition rounds, riders and visitors can enjoy the ranch atmosphere, watch training sessions and connect with the global horseback archery community.

The Ranch & Our Way of Working

Ranch Kuulas is a working Finnish ranch just outside Rovaniemi.
We welcome guests year-round and share daily life with our Finnhorses.

About us

We are a small working ranch outside Rovaniemi, where we live and work with Finnhorses throughout the year. Our riding takes place on forest trails and open terrain shaped by the northern seasons, using Finland’s native horse breed known for its strength, steady temperament, and long history.

We guide our rides in small groups and match each horse carefully to the rider’s experience. Alongside riding, we prepare meals at Restaurant Loimu in a wood-fired oven and are opening farmhouse-style accommodation in summer 2026 for guests who want to stay longer in a quiet rural setting.
