The Lappish Summer Adventure is a 7-day horseback riding holiday in Lapland designed for riders who want to experience northern Finland in a slow and authentic way. Instead of rushing between attractions, you explore the landscape as it has traditionally been experienced here, on horseback.
During the week you will ride through quiet forests, across open fells and into remote wilderness areas where nature still sets the pace of life. The horses you ride are Finnhorses, Finland’s native horse breed known for its strength, calm temperament and reliability in challenging northern conditions.
One of the highlights of the holiday is a two-day wilderness trek, where you ride deeper into the forest and spend a night surrounded by nature. Evenings are spent around the campfire, sharing stories and enjoying the silence of the northern wilderness.
At the ranch, your days are balanced with good local food and traditional Finnish sauna evenings by the lake — an essential part of Finnish culture and the perfect way to relax after long days on horseback.
Ranch Kuulas is located in the peaceful countryside near Rovaniemi, far from the busiest tourist areas. Small group sizes ensure a personal atmosphere, while experienced local guides help you feel comfortable and safe throughout the journey.
This horseback riding holiday is ideal for experienced riders who want to combine adventure, nature and authentic northern culture. Whether you are riding under the endless light of the midnight sun or sitting quietly by the campfire in the forest, the experience offers a rare chance to see Lapland as it has been lived for generations.

Day 1 – Arrival
Arrival transfer to Ranch Kuulas. Settle into your accommodation surrounded by quiet forests and rolling fells. Meet your guides, get to know the horses, and ease into the calm rhythm of ranch life.
Day 2 – Ride to the Hill & Lapland Flavors
Your first ride takes you along forest trails to our home hill on a relaxed 2-hour journey. This gentle introduction helps you connect with your horse and the terrain.
In the evening, enjoy our Lapland Tasting Menu – a warm introduction to northern flavors and local food traditions.
Day 3 – Half-Day Trail Ride
A 4-hour ride through varied landscapes: forest paths, lakeside trails, and open ridges. The pace is steady and unhurried, allowing you to fully experience the silence and scenery of Lapland.
Day 4 – Rest & Ranch Life
A day to slow down. Spend time at the ranch, connect with the horses, enjoy the surrounding nature, or simply rest. Optional activities can be arranged if you wish to explore more.
Day 5 – Wilderness Ride & Forest Overnight
Begin your 6-hour ride deeper into the wilderness. This marks the start of your two-day adventure into remote forest areas.
In the evening, settle into a forest camp and sleep in a tent under the northern sky, with the horses resting nearby.
Day 6 – Return Ride & Sauna Evening
After breakfast in the forest, ride back to the ranch along new scenic trails on another 6-hour journey.
In the evening, unwind in our lakeside sauna – the perfect way to relax after your wilderness adventure and share stories by the fire.
Day 7 – Departure
Breakfast, check-out, and transfer back to Rovaniemi.

About us
We are a small working ranch outside Rovaniemi, where we live and work with Finnhorses throughout the year. Our riding takes place on forest trails and open terrain shaped by the northern seasons, using Finland’s native horse breed known for its strength, steady temperament, and long history.
We guide our rides in small groups and match each horse carefully to the rider’s experience. Alongside riding, we prepare meals at Restaurant Loimu in a wood-fired oven and are opening farmhouse-style accommodation in summer 2026 for guests who want to stay longer in a quiet rural setting.
