A Deeply restorative Weekend in Finnish Lapland
If you’re searching for a wellness retreat in Lapland that goes beyond yoga studios and packed schedules, Lapland Slow Retreat with Horses offers something rare: time, space and stillness, guided by horses and northern nature.
Taking place 28–30 August 2026, this small-group retreat invites you to slow down completely, reconnect with your body and nervous system, and experience Finnish Lapland in a way few travellers ever do.
Why choose a Horse Retreat in Lapland?
Lapland is often associated with winter adventures and Northern Lights. Late summer, however, reveals a quieter side of the north: soft light, cool evenings, forests full of scent and silence.
Adding horses to this environment creates a uniquely grounding experience. Horses are naturally attuned to rhythm, breath and presence. Spending time with them, both on the ground and in the saddle, helps the human nervous system settle without effort.
This retreat is not about performance, achievement or pushing limits. It’s about being, not doing.

Questions & Answers
Q: What kind of horses do you use?
A: We ride Finnhorses, Finland’s national horse breed. They are calm, strong, and versatile, making them perfect for trail riding in Lapland’s varied terrain.
Q: How far in advance should I book?
A: We recommend booking at least 3 month ago in advance
Q: What if the weather is bad?
A: Horseback riding in Lapland is an all-weather experience! We ride in light rain, snow, and different temperatures. If extreme weather conditions make riding unsafe, we will reschedule or offer an alternative experience.
Q: Will I see the northern lights on a ride?
A: September–March is the season for auroras, but since the northern lights are a natural phenomenon, sightings cannot be guaranteed. However, our Northern Lights Ride takes you to the best viewing locations away from light pollution for the highest chances.
Q: How do I get to Ranch Kuulas?
A: We are located about 40 minutes from Rovaniemi city center and 30 minutes from Luosto. You will need your own car, as there is no public transportation available. We can also help arrange private transfers upon request.
