Lapland is often known for its winter adventures and northern lights.
But late summer reveals another side of the north.
Soft golden evenings, cool fresh air and forests filled with scent and silence create the perfect environment for slowing down. When horses are part of this environment, something special happens.
Horses are naturally attuned to rhythm, breath and emotional presence. Spending time with them – both on the ground and in the saddle – helps the human nervous system settle and return to a natural balance.
The Lapland Slow Retreat with Horses is designed around this principle.
Over three days, participants experience a carefully balanced combination of gentle activities and restorative moments. Horseback rides through the quiet forest allow riders to move slowly through the landscape, while yoga, sound healing and meditation support relaxation and body awareness.
The retreat is intentionally limited to a maximum of 10 participants, ensuring a calm, personal and safe atmosphere throughout the weekend.
Meals are prepared using local ingredients and served at the ranch’s log-built Restaurant Loimu, creating moments of connection and nourishment between activities.
This retreat is not about achieving something.
It is about slowing down enough to truly experience where you are.

The Ranch & Our Way of Working

About us
We are a small working ranch outside Rovaniemi, where we live and work with Finnhorses throughout the year. Our riding takes place on forest trails and open terrain shaped by the northern seasons, using Finland’s native horse breed known for its strength, steady temperament, and long history.
We guide our rides in small groups and match each horse carefully to the rider’s experience. Alongside riding, we prepare meals at Restaurant Loimu in a wood-fired oven and are opening farmhouse-style accommodation in summer 2026 for guests who want to stay longer in a quiet rural setting.
Responsibility
At Ranch Kuulas, responsibility is part of everyday life. We care for our horses, nature and surroundings with respect, following sustainable practices and traditional ways of working. Our goal is to create experiences that feel meaningful while preserving the environment for the future.
Our Horses
Our horses are at the heart of Ranch Kuulas. From Finnish Finnhorses to Arctic horses, each one is carefully trained and well cared for. Known for their calm temperament and strength, they make every riding experience safe, steady and deeply connected to nature.
