During your stay, you will ride through quiet forest trails and rolling hills, enjoy the light of the midnight sun and relax with traditional sauna sessions by the lake. The programme combines scenic trail riding, unhurried free time and two soft archery tasters, giving you the chance to try something new without pressure or performance goals.
The archery sessions are designed especially for beginners and first-timers. The focus is on calm concentration, posture and enjoyment rather than competition. No previous archery experience is needed.
Set in the countryside near Rovaniemi, Ranch Kuulas offers an authentic Lapland experience far from mass tourism. Small groups, well-trained Finnhorses and experienced local guides ensure a personal and high-quality holiday from arrival to departure.
This Lapland riding and archery retreat is ideal for nature lovers, recreational riders and travellers looking for a meaningful summer escape in Finland that combines horses, outdoor life and northern culture.
Day 1 – Arrival in Lapland
Arrival transfer to Ranch Kuulas from Rovaniemi (or self-arrival). Check in to your accommodation and settle into the peaceful surroundings of the ranch. Meet your guides and horses, receive an introduction to the week ahead, and enjoy your first evening in the quiet Lapland countryside.
Day 2 – Forest Trail Ride
A relaxed 4-hour horseback ride through Lapland’s forest trails and gentle hills. This ride allows you to get comfortable with your horse and ease into the rhythm of riding in nature. The pace is steady and enjoyable, focusing on scenery and connection rather than speed.
Day 3 – Archery Introduction & Sauna Evening
A beginner-friendly archery session where you get a first taste of horseback archery principles from the ground. Learn the basics of posture, focus, and shooting technique in a calm and supportive environment – no previous experience needed.
In the evening, unwind in a traditional Finnish lakeside sauna.
Day 4 – Full-Day Horseback Ride
A full-day horseback adventure exploring deeper into Lapland’s wilderness. Ride through forests, open ridges, and quiet natural landscapes. A longer break during the day allows time to rest and take in the surroundings before continuing back to the ranch.
Day 5 – Rest Day & Free Time
A day to slow down and recharge. Relax by the lake, spend time with the horses, or explore Rovaniemi independently. This day balances the active program and allows both body and mind to recover.
Day 6 – Archery Session & Midnight Sun Ride
Another relaxed archery session to continue building your skills at your own pace.
In the evening, experience a magical horseback ride under the Midnight Sun (summer) or soft evening light (autumn), when the landscape glows in golden tones and time seems to stand still.

The Ranch & Our Way of Working

About us
We are a small working ranch outside Rovaniemi, where we live and work with Finnhorses throughout the year. Our riding takes place on forest trails and open terrain shaped by the northern seasons, using Finland’s native horse breed known for its strength, steady temperament, and long history.
We guide our rides in small groups and match each horse carefully to the rider’s experience. Alongside riding, we prepare meals at Restaurant Loimu in a wood-fired oven and are opening farmhouse-style accommodation in summer 2026 for guests who want to stay longer in a quiet rural setting.
Responsibility
At Ranch Kuulas, responsibility is part of everyday life. We care for our horses, nature and surroundings with respect, following sustainable practices and traditional ways of working. Our goal is to create experiences that feel meaningful while preserving the environment for the future.
Our Horses
Our horses are at the heart of Ranch Kuulas. From Finnish Finnhorses to Arctic horses, each one is carefully trained and well cared for. Known for their calm temperament and strength, they make every riding experience safe, steady and deeply connected to nature.
