During the Midnight Sun season, the Arctic landscape transforms.
The sun circles the sky without setting, bathing forests and open fields in soft golden light throughout the night. Time slows down, and the northern wilderness becomes a remarkable setting for sport.
The Lapland Cup takes place at Ranch Kuulas in Rovaniemi, Finland, bringing together horseback archers for two days of competition in this extraordinary environment.
Riders compete in two disciplines:
Raid
Tower
Each discipline challenges different aspects of horseback archery. Raid tests speed and flow along the track, while Tower emphasizes timing, accuracy and shooting rhythm.
The competition is IHAA accredited, ensuring international standards and professional judging.
Ranch Kuulas offers varied natural terrain for the tracks, combining open fields and forest surroundings that create both technical challenges and breathtaking scenery.
Beyond the competition itself, the event also provides an opportunity for riders to connect with the international horseback archery community and experience the unique atmosphere of Lapland’s summer.

The Ranch & Our Way of Working

About us
We are a small working ranch outside Rovaniemi, where we live and work with Finnhorses throughout the year. Our riding takes place on forest trails and open terrain shaped by the northern seasons, using Finland’s native horse breed known for its strength, steady temperament, and long history.
We guide our rides in small groups and match each horse carefully to the rider’s experience. Alongside riding, we prepare meals at Restaurant Loimu in a wood-fired oven and are opening farmhouse-style accommodation in summer 2026 for guests who want to stay longer in a quiet rural setting.
Responsibility
At Ranch Kuulas, responsibility is part of everyday life. We care for our horses, nature and surroundings with respect, following sustainable practices and traditional ways of working. Our goal is to create experiences that feel meaningful while preserving the environment for the future.
Our Horses
Our horses are at the heart of Ranch Kuulas. From Finnish Finnhorses to Arctic horses, each one is carefully trained and well cared for. Known for their calm temperament and strength, they make every riding experience safe, steady and deeply connected to nature.
