Horseback archery requires a unique combination of balance, focus and connection with the horse.
Improving these skills takes time, repetition and an environment where riders can concentrate fully on their training.
The Horseback Archery Training Camp at Ranch Kuulas offers exactly that environment.
Over four days, participants train under the guidance of Anni Jauhiainen, one of Europe’s most accomplished horseback archers. Training sessions focus on improving both technical archery skills and riding control.
Mounted practice takes place on the ranch’s horseback archery tracks, including both Tower and Raid courses, allowing riders to develop different shooting patterns and riding strategies.
Ground archery sessions support the mounted training by strengthening shooting technique, body awareness and consistency.
The training schedule combines focused technical sessions with time for recovery and reflection. Riders also benefit from a supportive group atmosphere where participants share knowledge, experiences and encouragement.
Evenings are spent enjoying good food, sauna and the calm surroundings of the ranch, while the northern summer light continues late into the night.
This camp is designed to help riders grow as horseback archers while experiencing the unique atmosphere of Lapland’s summer.

The Ranch & Our Way of Working

About us
We are a small working ranch outside Rovaniemi, where we live and work with Finnhorses throughout the year. Our riding takes place on forest trails and open terrain shaped by the northern seasons, using Finland’s native horse breed known for its strength, steady temperament, and long history.
We guide our rides in small groups and match each horse carefully to the rider’s experience. Alongside riding, we prepare meals at Restaurant Loimu in a wood-fired oven and are opening farmhouse-style accommodation in summer 2026 for guests who want to stay longer in a quiet rural setting.
Responsibility
At Ranch Kuulas, responsibility is part of everyday life. We care for our horses, nature and surroundings with respect, following sustainable practices and traditional ways of working. Our goal is to create experiences that feel meaningful while preserving the environment for the future.
Our Horses
Our horses are at the heart of Ranch Kuulas. From Finnish Finnhorses to Arctic horses, each one is carefully trained and well cared for. Known for their calm temperament and strength, they make every riding experience safe, steady and deeply connected to nature.
