Your adventure begins at the ranch stables where you meet the horses and your guide.
Each participant is matched with a suitable horse from our herd of Finnhorses, Finland’s native horse breed known for its calm temperament and reliability on trail rides.
Before setting out, the guide provides a short introduction to riding and explains how to handle the horse safely. Helmets are provided and the guide ensures that everyone feels comfortable before the ride begins.
The trail leads through forest paths, past a nearby lake and gradually climbs towards the hill Laenlammen vaara, our home fell. From the top, riders can enjoy beautiful views of Lapland’s forests and rolling landscapes.
Along the way you may spot wildlife such as birds or reindeer. The ride takes place mainly at a relaxed walking pace, allowing you to fully enjoy the surrounding nature.
After the ride, guests return to the stable where the horses are unsaddled and released back to their paddock.
This excursion offers a calm and authentic way to experience the nature of Lapland on horseback.

The Ranch & Our Way of Working

About us
We are a small working ranch outside Rovaniemi, where we live and work with Finnhorses throughout the year. Our riding takes place on forest trails and open terrain shaped by the northern seasons, using Finland’s native horse breed known for its strength, steady temperament, and long history.
We guide our rides in small groups and match each horse carefully to the rider’s experience. Alongside riding, we prepare meals at Restaurant Loimu in a wood-fired oven and are opening farmhouse-style accommodation in summer 2026 for guests who want to stay longer in a quiet rural setting.
Responsibility
At Ranch Kuulas, responsibility is part of everyday life. We care for our horses, nature and surroundings with respect, following sustainable practices and traditional ways of working. Our goal is to create experiences that feel meaningful while preserving the environment for the future.
Our Horses
Our horses are at the heart of Ranch Kuulas. From Finnish Finnhorses to Arctic horses, each one is carefully trained and well cared for. Known for their calm temperament and strength, they make every riding experience safe, steady and deeply connected to nature.
